California Avenue Once I was the man in three-piece suit locked in my walls A beast in me shadowed every way I’d crawl In my heart I knew there was no escape I had no command I was at the whim of all the flowing winds I left there in a fright having no idea where I’d come to land But where I did I found myself a stranger there. I woke up in a gutter on the cold hard curb feeling out of luck Nothing was around just a streetlight buzzed Passing through the alleyways & the lamp lit street of the empty town All the vacant houses really got me down I wandered on like an old stray dog to the ocean view California avenue I looked out on the road saw the sun go down over ocean A single star was hanging with the moon I was telling stories to the sun and rain while out on the run A solemn soul out in the night to roam The coolness of the night lay down a cold damp chill over the coastal road I walked a mile my thumb held high my story goes I left behind me all the times I’d fallen down and fell out of love Memories out on the breeze till I am dust

Every Knot 03:22
Every Knot I can see the railroad tracks, bend around the burnt out leaves of autumn Awakened where all time is lost, broken on the ballasts where I’m walking A picture of a mile measured two feet at a time, on the sleepers Motion is sedated just the slow burn of the sun lay on my shoulders Sensations in my solitude, lead me to reflect upon my travels All the roads that I have come from, the people that I’ve met as live unravels The blessings in a laugh are like, the rising of a wave in level waters They call us on our wandering to revel in our gifts as life turns autumn And in my mind I know there’s a reason And in my heart I know there’s a road As the light is getting closer and my bodies growing old Every knot gets harder to unfold As cries turn into rain and haze will fill my mind with worried lies and burden I know that there will be sun again, to keep the pastures green and flowers growing Steps that we move forward leave new one in our past, as we ramble To think of how we’ve found our way, through valleys and through pain, days of grandeur

Hang around, Willie boy Don't you raise the sails anymore It's for sure, I've spent my whole life at sea And I'm pushin' age seventy three Now there's only one place that was meant for me Oh, to be home again Down in Old Virginny With my very best friend They call him 'Ragtime Willie' We're gonna soothe away the rest of our years We're gonna put away all of our tears That big rockin' chair won't go nowhere Slow down, Willie boy Your heart's gonna give right out on you It's true, and I believe I know what we should do Turn the stern and point to shore The seven seas won't carry us no more Oh, to be home again Down in Old Virginny With my very best friend They call him 'Ragtime Willie' I can't wait to sniff that air Dip'n snuff, I won't have no care That big rockin' chair won't go nowhere Hear the sound, Willie boy The flyin' Dutchman's on the reef It's my belief, we've used up all our time This hill's to steep to climb And the days that remain ain't worth a dime Oh, to be home again Down in Old Virginny With my very best friend They call him 'Ragtime Willie' Would a been nice just to see the folks Listen once again to the stale jokes That big rockin' chair won't go nowhere I can hear somethin' callin' on me And you know where I want to be Oh Willie don't you hear that sound (oh to be home again) ……………………….. down in Old Virginny I just want to get my feet back on the ground (Oh to be home again) ……………………….. down in Old Virginny I'd love to see my very best friend (with my very best friend) They call him 'Ragtime Willie' I believe old rockin chair's got me (oh to be home again)

All I’m Thinking Of Is You Tonight I wonder what your doing Can’t help but wish that you were here While you’re out there with acting foolish A jealous voice sits in my ear Chorus Now I’m feeling lonesome Yeah it’s true I’m feeling blue Cause your not thinking of me While all I’m thinking of is you When I’m near I try to tell you That all is well I’m doing fine But soon my lies I get to drowning My bitterness I just can’t hide My plea’s for you don’t get no pity You still don’t want me hanging round No one in this great old city Ever made me feel that I’d been found

I'll Be Your Stepping Stone I'll be your stepping stone while you keep stepping on From him to him I'll try to keep the pace keep looking for a place In your heart within. You told me once just how my kisses thrilled you Since that time there's been many lips you've known there you go again in love with someone new so darling please, please don't miss your stepping stone. Chorus with every step I want to be there helping cause it's love not jealousy that hangs me on When you walk out on him watch where you're stepping n’darling please don't miss your stepping stone.

about

Marc Silver & The Stonethrowers Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

“Marc Silver is living proof that singer/songwriters don’t need to shout outrageously shocking lyrical lines in order to attract well-deserved attention…His confessional songs draw you in, rather than drag you along… a truly noteworthy artist that walks quietly, but carries a big gift.” Dan MacIntosh, [Spin]

Marc works as a solo artist, and with his Bluegrass/Americana Band The Stonethrowers.
